Surgical Dentistry

Prior to going to dental school, Dr. Briney had always wanted to have a private practice that was able to provide COMPLETE dental and oral healthcare to his patients. Dr. Briney decided to spend another year in a surgery residency following dental school which allows him to perform many different surgerical procedures that most offices don't. Dr. Briney has routinely attended continuing education courses in order to stay on top of the continuing changing techniques and materials .Below are just a few of the surgeries offered and the materials of choice that Dr. Briney offers. Dental implants enable dentists to create healthy, attractive smiles in an innovative way. Used to replace one or more missing teeth, implants are another alternative to conventional bridges and dentures. In essence, dental implants act and look like natural teeth. And, because they maintain bone mass, dental implants can help prevent additional tooth loss as well as the sunken facial appearance associated with missing teeth. A dental implant restoration consists of a bio-compatible titanium screw and post topped by a crown, bridge or denture.
The implant is surgically placed into the jawbone where it replaces the natural tooth root. In a few months, the implant securely attaches to the bone (called “osseointegration”), allowing it to withstand biting and chewing forces just like a healthy, natural tooth.

SINUS LIFTS

In the past, implants were not an option in patients that had limited bone in their upper jaw. With the advancement of the "Sinus Lift" technique, implants are easily placed in these areas of concern. Under local anesthetic, the sinus is easily accessed through tiny holes and bone replacement particles packed into the sinus in order to create the extra bone for proper implant support.

ROOT CANALS

The "feared" root canals have become incredibly easy to perform with todays advancement in technology in the procedure itself and anesthetics which can make a root canal virtually painless.

Dr. Briney uses special techniques to profoundly numb the patient in order to eliminate the fear of pain. Dr. Briney uses the most advanced techniques known to the dental world in completing the root canal with accuracy and precision via dental microscopes. He uses a material that seals the canals much safer and secure; he also chooses alternative techniques for restoring the tooth which eliminates the dangerous steel post placement that is proven to lead to fractures.

Through today's technology and Dr. Briney's committment to continuing education, most surgical procedures can be performed extremely easy and without the need for general anesthesia. Extractions are generally performed with use of the best topical and local anesthetics on the market. If anxiety is the concern, oral medications are used to relieve the anxiety and place the patient in a comfortable state of mind. Immediately following extractions, bone grafts (plugs) are placed in order for the bone to heal properly without defect.
